See it’s photosets like this that make me see how similar John and Sam really are. I mean they always fought so I never really saw it but like they both lost the love of their life to the YED and moved into the hunter lifestyle to get their revenge.

Sam had a chance to escape the hunting game but he gave that up for love, and Mary had escaped the hunting lifestyle but John pulled their family back into it.

Their main difference is their attitude to Dean. Sam isn’t willing to sacrifice his brother to get what he wants while John barely shows any interest beyond Dean doing as he’s told. And like that’s so important. That’s what is their difference.
